The Computer's Role
The computer plays a central role in the Science on the Move program. The computer is used as a:
| Laboratory Instrument | Laptop Computers fitted with interfaces and "probes" are used to record data in the Science Laboratory. |
 | Each Van caries a class set of IBM laptops. |
| Network Tools | Computer Workstations with MODEMS and loaded with communications software form the backbone of the system that keeps "Teachers in Touch" with one another. |
 | Each school receives an IBM Workstation for the science laboratory. |
| Computer Training | Teachers are taught to use e-mail and are able to UPLOAD their work for others and DOWNLOAD the work of others. | Internet Access | Every school science department is given a school account and has its science teachers trained in the skills needed to use the World Wide Web resources. |
