The Computer's Role


The computer plays a central role in the Science on the Move program. The computer is used as a:
Laboratory Instrument Laptop Computers fitted with interfaces and "probes" are used to record data in the Science Laboratory.
Each Van caries a class set of IBM laptops.
Network ToolsComputer Workstations with MODEMS and loaded with communications software form the backbone of the system that keeps "Teachers in Touch" with one another.
Each school receives an IBM Workstation for the science laboratory.
Computer Training Teachers are taught to use e-mail and are able to UPLOAD their work for others and DOWNLOAD the work of others.
Internet AccessEvery school science department is given a school account and has its science teachers trained in the skills needed to use the World Wide Web resources.
